Indeed

Overview

At Indeed, I operated at the intersection of UX strategy and engineering, embedded within the UX Engineering org. My role was to translate design intent into scalable, production-ready components and tools. I contributed to large-scale modernization of the internal design system (IFL), improved accessibility across 100+ repos, and built internal dashboards that surfaced key UX and engineering health metrics to leadership.

My Role

  • Led the modernization of 16+ codebases by migrating legacy styling to a unified semantic token system. This enabled themeability, accessibility (WCAG 2.1), and long-term maintainability across the entire employer platform.
  • Delivered over 26% of component updates across 116 repositories, including full refactors, GraphQL linting, color and spacing token replacements, and accessibility enhancements using standardized ARIA patterns.
  • Refactored the core location input component used in job posting and search. Used Redux to handle complex state management, geolocation fallback, international formats, and suggestion APIs. Improved keyboard accessibility and validation coverage.
  • Built multiple high-fidelity prototypes in React/Redux to test features like Instant Match, including a research-specific rating interface with session tracking, data export, and identity handling.
  • Developed a real-time Job Posting Globe using React + Three.js to visualize global hiring data—bringing visibility to engagement patterns geographically.
  • Built a custom research interface to rate Instant Matches on a 5-point scale, including unique ID tracking and data export features to streamline UXR analysis.

Skills Acquired

  • Frontend: React, Redux, GraphQL, Emotion, styled-components
  • Tooling: Storybook, OneHost, WCAG audits, Lighthouse
  • Design Systems: Semantic token architecture, accessibility enforcement, cross-team component standardization
  • Visualization: Three.js, D3.js, data-driven UI
  • Collaboration: Cross-functional UX/PM pairing, large-scale codebase coordination, design system contribution

Impact

My work at Indeed helped standardize and scale the employer-facing design system across teams, accelerated delivery of complex UX features, and improved both visual and code-level consistency. I was regularly trusted to prototype strategic ideas, lead frontend migrations, and ship components that balanced UX quality, accessibility, and performance in one of the largest production codebases in tech.
